Shrove Tuesday - & hot dog pancakes with BBQ sauce & grated cheddar
Why not treat the kids to this simple cheeky little pancake innovation, Hot dog pancakes with BBQ sauce & cheese? First gather your ingredients
ingredients:
- 55g/2oz plain flour
- pinch salt
- 1 free-range egg
- 140ml/5fl oz milk
- knob of butter or glug of oil for frying
- This will make about 2 - 3 pancakes
- best hot dogs you can find - thicker the better
- Best BBQ sauce you can find
- 150gm of mature cheddar grated - other cheeses can work, but make sure they have flavour
- some cocktail sticks
Method:
- Make your batter for the pancakes
- heat butter/oil in a pan (if using butter be careful not to burn it)
- Make your pancakes as normal & set aside
- Meanwhile cook your hotdogs according to instructions
- spread a layer of BBQ sauce on each pancake
- sprinkle your cheese over the top of the sauce
- Lay one cooked hotdog per prepared pancake & roll it
- Cut in diagangle shapes and hold each one with a cocktail stick
- serve immediately & await praise for being the best parent ever
